Song information
It’s Saint Patrick’s Day so here’s a short work for flute and orchestral that I hear when I think of the sometimes foreboding and turbulent Erin’s Cove.
And here’s a story inspired by this music by the talented composer/writer Rebecca Williams.

Late afternoon light framed the boat that gently rolled to and fro in the small waves of the cove. She sat and looked out across the water. It seemed to her that only the water, the boat, and perhaps some clouds near the horizon were the only things moving in the world at that moment. Even her heart had stopped beating. All desire to get up and go on was gone.

The men had already taken the wrapped form from the boat up to the hospital, though she knew nothing was to be done for him there. She sat and looked out across the water. His flaming red hair burning into her memory, searing into her heart and mind. She wanted to capture all those images and feelings, not let any of them escape. His intense love of life. His life. Their life together. They would be her dying thoughts.

The day's light faded. A few people quietly approached her, patiently standing beside her as she looked out across the water. She finally noticed them and took her stare off of the now blackened water. Slowly she rose and walked with her friends towards her home that would never be the same.
