Song information
I labelled this one "explicit" because it deals with rather controversial socio-political and ideological issues.

It's about the toxic philosophies that underlay much, if not most, of the current social chaos in the USA.

Sadly, it all begins in the Universities...

'Nuff said!

Recorded in 2019. Remixed and remastered for this posting. Posted mainly because I've nothing else to
post right now...

Be well my friends!

Lyrics
GUILLOTINE

I
Analytical philosophy:
the bullsh*t 'turn'... Irrationality!
Self-refuting ideology...
Deconstructive imbecility!

II
Reductionism weaves its toxic spell;
renders us deaf to the tolling bell.
Cannot hear it sounding our death knell.
Where we'll end up people, who can really tell?

III
Funny-mentalist religion prevails.
---Over reaction to the Nihilist's tales!
Seekers of TRUTH have to duck and hide or
confront the TIGER, and wind up inside!

IV
Self beheaded Aristocracy!
They chain us tightly then tell us we're free.
The Lemming masses learn to take their cues,
transfixed and helpless, before the nightly news!

V
Occam's Razor?
Or a guillotine?
It's the strangest thing I've ever seen!
Intelligentsia denying the Mind...
Gray lump of matter is all they can find!!!

VI
Now we're livin' in the U.S.S.A.
Pol Pot and Stalin laughin' in their graves!
Our tenured Sociopaths have won the day...
---reduced the populace to ignorant slaves!

VII
Left Wing and Right Wing
---it's all the same.
This false dichotomy is utterly lame!
Ground down by totalitarian heels,
with no Higher Pow'r to which we can appeal!

VIII
They'll insult you if you disagree.
Reply in kind, and they'll call it 'Hate Speech.'
I've had enough of this hypocrisy;
---this DROOLING PC mediocrity!

IX
Sing hallelujah as we circle the drain!
While all around collapses under the strain!
Most oblivious and feeling no pain;
---LOBOTOMIZED---
with nothing left to gain
Who'll stop the rain?
IT'S SO INSANE!!!

A driving song for sure with intense lyrics. Nice guitar licks. Try to not think about it all and write a happy song.

As soon as I have the time I'll write a happier song. In the meantime this oldie will have to do...

I really admire your creativity with respect to chord progressions, and also love the organ work here. Rocks hard and mix is very clear. While your political beliefs are different than mine, I love the idea of political discourse whilst rocking out! 🎸 🤙

Thanks friend. I deeply appreciate folk who can disagree amicably.
It bespeaks that rare combination of intelligence and emotional maturity.
Glad you were able to enjoy this noisy little rant of mine!

Great song Mike.  Always love your guitar/organ licks with your passionate singing.  As a university graduate from decades ago and watching a dozen or so nieces and nephews graduate I find that most the students are a bunch of kids who all of a sudden feel they are adults and thinking they know it all.  I dont mind the rebel in them when they protest or try to promote change.  We need change, we need more protests and more action because this world is messed up.  However their attitude fades as they grow older and experience the real world.  Unfortunately they eventually conform and become sheep.
