I really like the "experimental soul-jazz" or "avant-groove" music of Martin, Medeski, and Wood. I especially appreciate Billy Martin’s deep-in-the pocket drumming. Here’s an instrumental that seeks to capture some of their unique magic. I switch between the Strat and the Les Paul then both together—slithering and skipping as I go.
