Song information
Macorina (María Calvo Nodarse) was a 'public figure' in La Habana - Cuba, a hundred years ago. Alfonso Camín, a Spanish poet, wrote this in 1931 and Chavela Vargas made a song from the poem in 1961. It's a classic 'double entendre', but also a beautiful song about love and desire. As you will instantly notice, Spanish is not my native language...although I have some latin roots (more on the Italian side...).So I hope the real Spanish speakers will forgive my mistakes... Piano and vocal tracks were recorded a few years ago and the rest has been added this year. I hope you'll enjoy this little Cuban tribute !

Lyrics
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí

Tus pies dejaban la estera
Y se escapaba tu saya
Buscando la verde raya
Que al ver tu talle tan fino
Las cañas azucareras
Se echaban por el camino
Para que tú las molieras
Como si fueses molino

Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí

Tus senos carne de anón
Tu boca una bendición
De guanábana madura
Y era tu fina cintura
La misma de aquel danzón

Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí

Después el amanecer
Que de mis brazos te lleva
Y yo sin saber que hacer
De aquel olor a mujer
A mango y a caña nueva
Con que me llenaste al son
Caliente de aquel danzón

Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
