I found this on a Seagate hard drive in my Florida home studio. I don't remember exactly when or why I made this. Solo right through it, that's what I would do. This has space and interesting, or I guess I should say "my" flavor, chords and progressions.

A picky point, if I may, given that it's unfinished.
The bass part has a major 3rd yet it feels more minor which sets up a bit of a paradox.
Also the bass phrase ends on the 4 which to me feels like a resting note, not one that sets up the next go round. I would suggest repeating the 5 instead, or flat 7. You could go to a jazzier flat 2 (F).
Apologies for my interjection, you may just like it the way it is. Sorry if I'm out of line. Critique is given on the bassis of constructive criticism, cheers, mre
Mre thank you for the comment. As I can't recall this piece, will offer the following generalization by way of explanation.
I dislike minor harmony in general and I write from key centers, we can be sad if ya want, but I don't cry. If the major third is present in situations where a concerned listener desires a flat third don't distress, the soloist is free to use either color in passing. I prefer bright happy harmony.
You have discovered the baseline wobbles. Or is displaced from where a concerned listener might expect the thump to be. Again this is a Daug trick. Something is always wobbling or running over the cliche form somehow. Normal for me. My tunes spin, wobble and undulate, they change modes and key centers and it's trademark. I want the music to be fun and a unique experience.
Thank you for the hip suggestions though. When it gets real strange about a minute from the end it's totally unique to me.
If you want to expose yourself to my vision try "Third Date" in the cue. It's all the tricks I know in one place.
James my take the album cover got me in trouble :)
Hot roller ..
Well i used to listen a lot to Ibrahim Ferrer a master classic cuban artist musician
Wonderful music wonderful lyrics and what i loved the most is that he intentionlly
played his solo classic guitar a bit out of tune .. At first i was like what but then i grew to admire & love him for it .. Again it is always subjective the taste for sound & music
A big yes the soloist can do whatever(provided he knows what he's doing )
